Happy New Year Wish

I hope everyone had an awesome Christmas.
I have always loved reading/writing poems.
Here is one I found today that I wanted to share.
New Years is such a great time to reflect and look forward to starting fresh and making some goals, and having things to look forward to. I know I am looking towards the new year with high hopes and I wish everyone and wonderful new year. I love you all.

My Happy New Year wish for you
Is for your best year yet,
A year where life is peaceful,
And what you want, you get.

A year in which you cherish
The past year’s memories,
And live your life each new day
Full of bright expectancies.

I wish for you a holiday
With happiness galore;
And when it’s done, I wish you
Happy New Year, and many more.

Why Me?

My whole entire life I have been deathly scared of spiders.
I remember when I was in elementary they asked us what we would do if we had a million dollars (Back then a million bucks went a long way!). Most of the kids said they would go to Disney Land, buy nice cars etc. Nope, I said I would hire someone to kill all of the spiders in the world. Haha.
Living in Hawaii for awhile, I had to learn to shake everything out, and double check everything or else there would be a spider the size of my head sneaking out somewhere. I hate Kane Spiders...I used to have nightmares about them, and still sometimes do.
Well I think because I have this fear I literally attract them to me. I am not joking. I remember seeing one scene in the Arachnophobia movie where there is a spider in the shower. So, I always check the shower up and down before showering because of that movie, and I shake out my towel before drying off. Today was no different. I searched the shower high and low before stepping in. I was shaving my legs and had just gotten done lathering up my knee. I turned to set the soap down and grab the razor and boom! There was a spider on my knee!! How did this happen? I was just lathering up and didnt see a thing! I had already checked the shower, and my leg was perched up on the window seal. I about died. I was squealing and trying to get out of the shower, I knocked all of the bottles off the seal, and got soap in my eyes. :( I hate em.
About a week ago I was about ready to crawl into bed and there was one in my sheets.
I just want to cry thinking about it.
Thanks to my wonderful loved ones (including my 4 year old niece) I dont have to kill them myself. Do you think If I pretend to love them they wont bother me anymore?

Chelsenezer Scrooge

One of my very favorite things to do this time of year is to go out and find fun gifts, and come home and sit by the fire, pop in a Christmas movie and wrap all my goodies.
For some reason, I am being such a Scrooge when it comes to shopping this year. I literally have not bought one single thing this year for Christmas. I dont know what to get anyone, and I kind of hate just buying something to buy. I want to buy something thoughtful, and something that people will enjoy. I am having no such luck.
So, since today is the 15th and I dont have one thing, I thought I would blog about my bad attitude so that I might turn things around and start being productive and enjoy!
I am just not a fan of the crowds. So...with all my complaining out of the way, wish me luck!

I dont want to leave this on a complete downer mood. I am totally enjoying my Sarah McLachlan Christmas CD! Love every word of it.

Thanks friends!

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving! As this time of year rolls around I think of the millions of things I am so grateful for. One of the many is friends. I have such amazing friends and I don't know where I would be without them. 2 years ago when I was job searching I had 2 job offers and couldn't decided where to work. I chose Del Sol because of all the young energetic people. I thought it would be a great opportunity for me to meet new people. What a great decision. I have made some of the most amazing friends from work. A few of them took me to dinner for my birthday and we had such a fun time.
Heidi had to go to the dentist so we hung out until she got back.

Me, LaNae & Meg

Silly Em
Once Heidi came home we headed up to Park City for dinner.

We went to dinner at a place called Baja Cantina. I had never been there before but the food was super good. And Heidi was such a good sport seeing how her mouth was completely numb from the dentist!
I dont know why, but I get really embarrassed when people sing happy birthday to me. But just in case I dont get embarrassed enough, the restaurant brought this for me to wear as they sang!

I would totally recommend this place. It was really yummy. Thanks for dinner Em.

Em knows me too well. She knows how much I love Rocky Mountain caramel apples.
So after dinner we swung by and got some incredibly delicious treats. There are so many to chose from. I am kind of boring, I just like the plain ol caramel apple with sliced almonds. Yu-um.

We drove back down the mountain where they had cupcakes and more goodies waiting for me. I ate SO much food that day. Then they brought out the gifts, they spoiled me.
Em gave me a movie (we both LOVE going to movies and watching movies), and a pair of super comfy Pj bottoms that had cute stars on them (we both love stars too!) with some really cute striped sock/slipper. Thank you so much again.
Heidi gave me a book that she says they all worked on, but I have a pretty good feeling that she put A LOT of work into it.
It was the most thoughtful gift I have ever been given. She scrap booked a whole birthday book for me. She had gotten in touch with my family secretly and had them write me birthday wishes and send her pictures. She then contacted some of my good friends are out on missions and they did the same. She also got in contact with one of my old high school soccer friend, and then friends at work, and made this amazing birthday book.

It just meant the world to me, and I cant express my gratitude for all the time, effort, money and everything that went into making that book.
Thanks to all my friends, family and loved ones for making my day so special.
I love you all.

One Man Band

My sister and her babies moved back home yesterday :(
I miss them already.
She packed up her stuff yesterday and asked that I watch her kids while she got everything together. Holy smokes does she have her work cut out for her! She will do great.
She went to grab us some lunch and I had the twins to myself. They both got hungry and fussy at the same time! I didnt know what to do! I couldnt figure out how to hold them both and feed them because the little stinkers arch their backs!
How did I do sis?

We miss you!

May the best man or woman win!

I dont usually get into politics but I cant get enough of it this election. I am however, ready for it all to be over and done.
My mom sent me this funny picture this morning. I love it.

If only it were as easy as reality TV to pick a a good president. I had an idea at the first of the election that we should put the canidates in a house together and throw them different situations to see how they would react. And then everyone could send in their little text message votes. That way America may get involoved in chosing the next president. Darn, I could have made millions.

Another Utah 1st Down!!

My dad took me this Saturday for a daddy-daughter date. I had a blast. My dad is a HUGE U Of U fan. I love it. He has been for as long as I can remember. Even when I was younger and dating if one of my dates showed up in blue it was like..."Your not a BYU fan are ya?"
Well he and my mom have season tickets, and my dad asked me if I wanted to join him to the opening night of this season. It was fun. There were tons of people all decked out in Utah gear. I didnt have any Ute stuff since I went to Utah State so I had to run and grab some stuff so I would fit in.

Here we are getting ready to head out on our date.

My dad is a blast to hang out with. He is super funny, and we have a lot in common, so we generally laugh at the same things, such as silly fans making a huge deal out of a call.
He spoiled me rotten with yummy stadium food, and of course kettle corn. Holy cow that stuff is addicting.
He even packed a little bag with treats and a blanket in case I got cold.
He has always been so much and has taken me out for daddy daughter dates since I was little. I remember when I got my first journal and was old enough to write it in, my frist entry was when my dad took me to a Utah Jazz game! What fun memories. I feel so lucky to have such an awesome, hard working, fun dad.
After they totally kicked butt and had their first win they had a firework show after. I love fireworks. And just when I thought summer had come to an end that gave me a little boost. What a fun time.
Go Utes!!

Surprise, Surprise, Puppy Surprise

I talked to my boss today and it's official, I will back to a full time employee. I don't know exactly how I feel about it because ever since the parade has been over its been really nice having half the day to do whatever I please. But it will be good for the ol wallet and Lb. factor(I tend to eat out and shop a LOT more)
So since I will be full time, I am going to be moving out of the storage unit into a real desk. Our dear friend Brian had to move upstairs so now there is a new opening.
And moving into a new desk out from my little corner I cant do my secret anymore.
My secret my dear friends and family is I would sneak my dog of choice into the building really early and have them stay at work with me! No one would know but Ang, sitting next to me. Rosie is the best dog to take to work because she sits in the corner and doesn't make a sound. Anytime she needs to stretch or something I would hurry and sneak her beef jerky.
I would miss my dogs during the day. Rosie was a complete gem but one day I decided to bring in Ecko and she almost blew it for me! She was sneezing all the time and I had to keep saying "excuse me" so people would think it was me.
Plus, she wouldn't stay in her corner and every time someone would come down she would want to meet and greet them.
So there was no other way...she had to hide. My friend LaNae saw her cute head resting on the leg of my chair and snapped this photo. Thanks for not ratting me out LaNae!

And once I scooted my chair in you would never know!
Unfortunately I will not be able to bring my dogs into work since I have to move.

Oh well. It was fun while it lasted.

Funny

You have to scroll down to the bottom of my page and turn the music off before viewing this video. I was cracking up and thought it was too funny not to share.
Sorry...there are some bad swears in the song, but the video totally makes up for it.

How many lives do dogs have??

So I know that cats are supposed to have 9 lives, but what about dogs? Because I am pretty dang sure that Rosie our oldest dog is running out of lives and luck.
This 24th of July she got spooked by the fireworks and hopped the fense on the deck.
Sadly, she found her way to a very busy street and got hit hard by a car.
Her whole front leg is completely torn apart. She has no skin left at all, and the bone on the top of her arm is totally exposed, as well as the wrist area.
Here is a picture...as I said before she is very scard of cameras so I had to take this with my phone so it didnt have a flash-

Its one of the sadest things I have seen in a long time. The Vet doesnt know how much nerve damage was done to the leg so he isnt positive she will be able to walk on all four legs again. Luckily, she hasnt had any fluid in her lungs and no sign of internal bleeding but the vet did say she isnt out of the woods yet.
Sean is so sweet about picking her up and taking her outside in the morning and evening to use the ladies room.
The doctor gave us hunter green bandages and I wasnt a fan of that, so they were kind enough to switch it out for yellow and pink...she is a girl.
The hardest part has been changing her bandage every day. Its a method called wet to dry where we have to put wet gauze on her wounds and wrap in up once a day. The next day we have to literally rip it off her. It is so painful for her and she just cries and cries. Its AWEFUL. Its not a pretty site at all.
The cutest part of this whole story is Sean. It was the day before the house had to be finished and there were a million people up at the house frantically trying to finish and Sean rushed home to take Rosie into the vet and he just sat there with us the whole time. I thought it was the sweetest thing ever.

Wipeout

Ok, I havent been a huge TV watcher since I was in high school. Sean and I were talking the other day how we dont have any shows we ever watch excepts the animal channel before bed.
But I saw a preview for the show Wipeout on ABC and watched it last night. I seriously couldnt stop laughing. Did anyone else see this show and did anyone else think it was as funny as me? When I laugh really hard I pull a really ugly face and I could feel that ugly face through the whole thing. I dont know what it is, but I naturally LOVE to see people attempt to do stupid things, and especially "wipeout". Call me insensitive or call me my fathers child but I love it. I have never added a video so I hope it works.
I hope it gives you a good laugh like it did me.
(Sorry I could only find a preview or else the videos were really long).

Grandma & Grandpa Kemp

This weekend was a really fun/emotional time. My grandma and granpas house that my dad and his sisters, and in later years me and my cousins grew up in has been sold.
It is going to be so hard to see the house go. Not only has it been sold, but it will be torn down in the next couple of months.
This house holds SO many memories. I could go on and on about my grandma and grandpa and that house. My grandpa died about 5 years ago on this September 11 and my grandma died on Christmas Eve of 2006. Their house has a big beautiful yard that was just too hard for everyone to keep up. Its going to be so sad to see that house go but I am so happy for the millions of memories I have at that house.
For the past year or so all my dad and his sisters have fairly drawn for certain items in the house. This weekend we took everything out of the house and the grandkids were able to draw for some items. Here are a few treasures we got!
Left To Right- Kaysie got a cool piece of pottery, Julie got a sweet mug with a bonus, grandpas glasses! Ashley got grandpas homemade money holder for his travels and I got another sweet pottery piece and grandpas winter hat!

We roasted hot dogs and smores..

And sat around the fire telling our favorite stories of the house and our grandparents...

We stayed up late as 2:00 AM rolled around we had our last family sleep over in the back yard

I think our family is incredibly lucky for how close we all grew up. Our aunts were like moms to us,and our cousins like brothers and sisters. Someone once joked that our family got together 364 days of the year. I wouldnt have traded it for anything.

My top 10 favorite things about Grandma, Grandpa and that house
*Grandmas rice pudding
*Grandpa taking me ice skating
*4th of July sleepovers and grandpa waking up singing and dancing in his PJ's
*Sleep overs with Merz
*Golfing in the back yard
*Picking raspberries from the garden
*Grandmas famous brown bowl filled with a little something for everyone
*Playing cards with grandma eating wheat toast
*Christmas in the front living room and bugging the parents in the back living room
*All the traditions they passed down to us
