Trick?...or Treat?

I seriously look forward to April Fools day every year. I LOVE it! One of my favorite holidays for sure...if you could call it a holiday.

I never do anything too big at all, I keep it pretty simple. I cant think of a whole lot of things that gives me joy then planning a prank and it going through beautifully.
The last two years have been pretty similar. You would think my poor victims would have made the connections, but luckily for me, they didnt :)
I never eat chocolate. That should be their first hint. Therefore, I dont make things with chocolate in it! But last year, I told Russ and my brother I made a treat for everyone to share. Chocolate covered marshmallows.

I made real choc covered mellows for those that I didnt want to prank, and so it would be more believable. But for Russ and my brother Cody, I made chocolate covered cotton balls :)

The year before I put an add on KSL for "Baby bunnies! Just in time for Easter!"
Poor Cody, got calls all day for people wanting baby bunnies and he didnt have a clue why!
I dont know if I ever mentioned I got a roommate? She moved in last November and is renting my basement out. She is quiet and nice.
She and I stayed up late April fools night bonding over our prank we couldnt wait to play on her co-workers and Russ and Cody.
We thought it was a good one and wanted to share in case you need an idea for next year :)
You will need:
One very nice brother that never remembers April fools day until its too late:

Homemade oreo cookies (again, I cooked with chocolate..1st hint)

And toothpaste

One of these cookies is full of toothpaste, the other with frosting. Can you tell the difference? Neither could they mu-ha-ha.

Russ and I drove up to Idaho for a weekend trip to visit my brother and his family. We happened to drive up on April Fools day.
I told Russ my roommate had made some cookies and sent some up with us for our trip (which wasnt all a lie! She helped!).
So we were like half way through and I decided to be a good girlfriend and offer him a cookie for his drive! He took a bite and said.."Hmmm their Minty." and then he swallowed and said it kind of burned. I busted up laughing and he proceeded to spit the rest of it out the window while on the freeway. I could not control myself. The "minty" comment was just too much.
So then we got up to Idaho and hung out with my brother and his kids for awhile. They put their kids to bed and we were all sitting in his living room talking around 11PM and he said "Bub, I cant believe you didnt do an April Fools joke this year, Ive been nervous all day."
And told him I had been too busy and we had to leave right after work and I didnt have time. We talked a little more and I said told them I had left some treats in the car my roommate had sent up with me. Cody was all happy and said "Its never too late for treats!" This comment made me happy. Very happy.
I went out to the car and got the toothpaste filled cookies, but stuck a real cookie on the edge to feed Russell so he could be eating a normal one and make them believe they werent a joke. It worked. Cody and his wife both looked at each other and said the same thing, "They are...minty". Cody then ran to the kitchen and spit it all out :) BINGO. With an hr to spare.

That next day we all went out to eat at a pizza joint. While Russ was showing Cody a video on his phone I slipped out the back and wrote a note and stuck it on his car without him knowing.
After we ate, we were all loading up in their jeep and getting the kids buckled with Cody saw the note:

I have the girliest handwriting so I tried my hardest to make it look like a guys. I also put a fake number, but an Idaho number to make it believable.
Cody walked around his car a couple of times inspecting every square inch while we were all inside laughing our heads off. I had told his wife what was going to happen so she wouldnt worry. As soon as he stopped looking and got in the car we all lost it.
I believe his exact words were, "Bubba, Im going to kill you".
If for some reason I go missing...remember those words!

SOLE=SOUL

Hi Friends! I wanted to make everyone aware of a very important event coming soon! The Race For the Cure will be held on May 7th at the Gateway in downtown Salt Lake. If you have not participated in this event, it is a must! This is a fundraiser to help raise money for Breast Cancer research. Because of these kinds of events it allows people like my Grandma... To live 15 years after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Unfortunately, we lost her last year to brain cancer. Its so important to come together and do anything we can to fight Cancer. There are many things you can do to help. My wonderful mother has organized our team this year SOLE=SOUL and we would like to invite anyone that is interested to join our team. This is a 5K, that you can watch, run, walk, crawl...whatever you want to do. Come support those you know that have fought, lost or are fighting this disease. This is such a great event, and super emotional if you know someone that has been affected. You are welcome to read more about it here on their website: Susan G Komen website. When you go to the website you can join our team SOLE=SOUL, make your own team, sign up individually, or simply make a donation on line to help the cause. I hope to see you there :) If you have any questions at all, please let me know!
